spring will have sprung officially on Saturday, so i’m a little early with this one
and
it’s not a poem by me, it’s by a “guest poet” – one of my all-time favorites
i credit e. e. cummings with furthering my love of language and how i could play with it, as well as deepening my love of poetry (and humor)
waaaaaaaaaaaay
back when i was in 6th grade, I wrote a parody of this poem titled “injust punctuation”
(i wish I still had it; as i recall, it was simply brilliant!)
um…what does this have to do with parenting?
well, I say set the kiddos loose
in their galoshes
to enjoy a glorious
outdoorious
day!
.
in just-
in Just-
spring when the world is mud-
luscious the little
lame balloonman
whistles far and wee
and eddieandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it’s
spring
when the world is puddle-wonderful
the queer
old balloonman whistles
far and wee
and bettyandisbel come dancing
from hop-scotch and jump-rope and
it’s
spring
and
the
goat-footed
balloonMan whistles
far
and
wee
