I wish I could take credit for this one, but I can’t.

When my daughter wrote it last year for her English class, boy, was I tickled. Not only was it a wonderful (in my humble opinion) expression of how so many feel about his writing, it captured the spirit of the man who brought whimsy and wonder to the world of words.

And so, in honor of his birthday, a tribute to the fabulous, fantastical, banner-flip-flapping Theodor Geisel.

Dr. Seuss’s
Wonderful uses
Of words all around
From sky to ground

From Star-bellied Sneeches
To green-colored beaches
From cats to dogs
From trees to smog

All his great creatures
With unique features
Having parties in trees
And knitting thneeds

A cat in a hat
Nothing quite tops that
Mr. Brown’s mooing skills
Give us tons of thrills

All his known stories
Never give me bories

I am a fan
Oh man, I am!!!
