As you may know (or could guess), potty training kids is no party. But apparently some people think it should be cause for one. Latching on to the latest trend in parenting, Huggies recently launched an ad campaign that’s all about celebrating the “First Flush” and provides parents with the resources to help make this milestone happen — with huge fanfare. Actually, make that GINORMOUS fanfare. The campaign features a cringe-inducing tv spot, a “potty party kit” and even…wait for it…AN APP.
I know some kids stubbornly resist giving up the diaper, and as parents we sometimes have to do what we have to do. But I’m solidly in the camp with these folks. This is all a bit much. And besides, you gotta wonder what happened to poor Eli from the commercial upon the occasion of his SECOND flush — when it wasn’t met with confetti and a marching band and a parade with a giant “Eli” blimp rolling past his house…

Wired to Go
‘Twas a tot learning how to go potty;
Enter mom with her iPad – she thought he
Might try to go crap
If she bought him an app –
So she did; now his diaper’s less spotty.Fast forward about 20 years:
And this kid’s lost his iPhone and fears
When he gets on the pot
The result will be naught
With no app to add clapping and cheers.
